Toys in the Community, project logo

Toys In The Community: Valuing Memories of Teddy Bears, Dolls and Construction Toys was a two-year oral history project, run by Brighton Toy and Model Museum under the direction of Andrea Dumbrell from May 2014 to May 2016 and funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.


2012-2013 –

The Frank Hornby Project was a one-year Heritage Lottery Funded project to commemorate the legacy of Frank Hornby, the Liverpool-based inventor of Meccano (1901), and founder of Meccano Ltd. (1908), which also created Hornby Trains and Dinky Toys, all of which are heavily featured in the museum. 2013 was the 150th anniversary of Hornby’s birth.
