Carr’s are most famous for their ‘table water biscuits’. The company was formed in 1831 by Johnathan Dodgson Carr, a man with strong Quaker beliefs who took care to treat workers fairly. The company gained a royal warrant from Queen Victoria in 1841 which it held until 2012.

Carr's still operates today under United Biscuits.
