Card No. 43: Skylab
This orbiting workshop is an extension of the Apollo Moon-landing techniques in which the third (SIV-B) stage of the Saturn V rocket is pre-equipped as a workshop/ laboratory.
It will be placed in Earth orbit by the first two Saturn V stages during 1972.
Shortly after its launch, a crew of three in an Apollo command module will be launched by a Saturn IB to rendezvous with the workshop and begin a 28-day mission to gather scientific, technological and biological data. Two more 3-man crews will be flown up later to continue experiments for up to 56 days each.
