A 1:1200 model of a Royal Navy "A" ("Amphion") Class submarine, part of the Tri-Ang Minic range produced between 1959 and 1964.
The Museum has two examples of this model, both with grey bodies and black communications masts.

1960 catalogue description:
M817 H.M. SUBMARINES, "A" CLASS – Originally designed for the Pacific service. They vary considerably in appearance but all have the "Snort" breathing device. Tonnage is about 1,400 on surface and 1,600 submerged. Length 281' and surfaced speed 18 knots. Length 2 3⁄16 in. (6.1 cms)
The A-Class
This Minic Ships model is of one of the Royal Navy's forty-six "A" Class submarines ordered during the Second World War. Thirty boats were cancelled at the end of the war with the remaining sixteen boats being laid down between 1943 and 1945 and commissioned between 1945 and 1948.
