A commercial marionette of "Muffin The Mule", a classic puppet from BBC children's television, made by Pelham Puppets.
Muffin the Mule
The original puppet was made in about ~1932 by Fred Tickner for the Hogarth Puppet Circus. Annette Mills (sister of John Mills) found the puppet, named him Muffin, and in 1946 started to co-present a BBC children's tv show For the Children that was later renamed Muffin and his Friends, with puppeteer Ann Hogarth operating Muffin from behind the scenery.
The show's theme song had Annette Mills trilling,
- "Here comes Muffin, Muffin the Mule
- Dear old Muffin, playing the fool ..."
while Muffin danced about on top of her piano.
