The redesigned 1930s version of the No.1 tank loco was superficially quite close to the lines of the enhanced '''No.1 Special Tank Loco''', the easiest way to tell the two apart being that the "Special" version had a set of steps by the driver's cab, and the "standard" No1 Tank loco didn't.
