Red Mersey Tunnel Police Van with a silver radiator, headlights, and protruding bumper. "Police" is printed on a white on black label on the top of the cab, and "Mersey Tunnel" in yellow on both doors. The van has a squat trunk. 1955-61
The original vehicle
This is one of the few Dinky Toys whose real life counterpart managed to be even more garish than its model, with a red and yellow colour scheme that can only be described as distinctive because nobody else would ever consider it. As they were limited to the area around the tolled Mersey Tunnels, these vehicles could probably get away with looking a bit naff.
