Evolution
The "standard" three-rail Dublo level crossing (D1) was originally painted with green grass verges. However, the introduction of the new two-rail track in 1959 necessitated a slight redesign, and it appears form the 1963 catalogue that the two versions were then differentiated with different colours (neither of them having the green grass paintwork).
