A lithographed tinplate gauge 0-scaled English railway station with advertising, with "Clapham Junction" signage, made by Bing.

Dating

Although Bing were already producing similar stations in 1906 (there's one in the 1906 catalogue, "English Type, Wayside Railway Station", that's stylistically similar but not quite the same), this one has a small black "BW BAVARIA" lithographed on one end, and since the Bing Werke name was introduced in around 1918 after the death of one of the Bing brothers (making the "Gebruder Bing" / "Bing Brothers" name inappropriate), this would seem to date from after 1918.

Advertising

Stations like Clapham Junction were a prime space to advertise commercial goods in the early 20th Century. To reflect this, the model recreates a number of the posters used for advertisements on the station platform:
