A 1:1200 first-issue model of Cunard's RMS Queen Elizabeth, the larger, later companion to the Queen Mary. The model is part of the Tri-Ang Minic range produced between 1959 and 1964.
The Queen Elizabeth was the world's largest ocean liner for some years. During a refit to convert it into a floating university, the Queen Mary caught fire and sank in Hong Kong's Victoria Harbour. The presence of the tilted wreck was used as a plot feature in the 1974 James Bond film "The Man with the Golden Gun", where it was shown (with retrofitted angled floors) as a secret Hong Kong base for MI6.
