The original gun
The frequently deployed Ordnance QF 18 pounder had a range of 10,000 yards and was capable of the comparatively high firing rate of eight rounds per minute. In use since 1904, the unit was only mechanised in 1930, previously being horse drawn. The gun was phased out by a 25 pound version during WW2, and when military Dinky Toys resumed production after the war, the 25 pounder was the gun used as the basis for the new model.
