Andy Pandy marionette (Pelham Puppets)(i) |
location: |
Arch Two , Area 54 Puppet Corner |
A marionette of "Andy Pandy", the children's television puppet character, made by Pelham Puppets.
A JC model marionette.
JC models were smaller and more simple than the SS type in order to be more easily controlled by children. This piece demonstrates black strings (which were changed to coloured ones in 1955 in order to make it easier to untangle them) and the thinner, shaped composite hands which were typical of the late 1940s and early 1950s.
These features allow us to give the item an estimated age of 60 to 67 years.
