A camouflaged model of the Art Deco Brooklands Control Tower, produced as part of the 1930s Skybirds range, item number 28.
The control tower and two flanking clubroom wings (available separately, individually, as Skybirds model 29) were designed by Graham Dawbarn and put up in 1932. They are now officially listed (grade II) and preserved.
Finish
The original finish would have been "Artex"-style textured paint to simulate cement, with the building being white or off-white with yellow window and door details. This example would have been sold later (probably 19139/1940), and has been repainted by the company to "update" it to camouflage colours.
