Locomotives with a 4-6-4 wheel configuration.
These were known as "Hudson" or "Baltic" locomotives. They were introduced in 1927, with the longer wheelbase supporting longer designs than the 4-6-2 Pacifics. The Hudsons were heavier, but distributed more weight on non-drive wheels, so their advantage appeared on long routes on relatively flat terrain.
