Commer began as the Commercial Car Company in 1905. Unsurprisingly, they specialised in commercial vehicles: vans, trucks, buses and military vehicles.
After going through receivership several times, a set of business mergers led to Commer passing through Humber, The Rootes Group, Chrysler Europe and eventually Peugeot. Its new owners renamed it to the Dodger marquee which ran along the Renault range.
The Commer name was finally dropped in 1976, but the Dodger marque still exists.
