Sample screen from the electronic poster display, "Hornby Trains - Evolution) [image info]
A portrait-format animated electronic poster, set into a doorway adjacent to the Hornby Wall, in Arch Four.
This 1080×1920-pixel "virtual poster" space was set up in 2013 using hardware paid for by the Heritage Lottery Fund, and was originally showing pages that illustrated the history of Frank Hornby's company, Meccano Ltd.
As of mid-2014 it is being used as a more general-purpose display space, showing new pages designed by museum volunteers on other subjects.
Hardware
The display is based on a glass-fronted 1920×1920 HD television set, mounted sideways and running a slideshow of images from a small USB pen drive.
