Category:Model Villages
Model of a C17th Cornish fishing village, by Charles Paget Wade [image info]
Traditionally, Model Villages are built outdoors, from materials designed to withstand the elements (such as real stone and cement).
The use of outdoor spaces usually allows the main open spaces between village buildings to be large enough for visitors to wander through at least parts of the layouts, and the focus on rustic and period villages allows builders to omit complicating street furniture such as lamp-posts and telephone wires that would otherwise get in the way (and be dangerous if fallen upon).
