Wagon Train was a US western TV series that lasted for eight seasons, from 1957-1965.
Show format
Following the experiences of a large wagon train of settlers heading towards the American West, the show's highly successful format involved a stock cast of regulars, supplemented by different character actors each week, as the train encountered new towns and locals. The format concept was later reused by Gene Roddenberry for "Star Trek", which he pitched as "Wagon Train to the Stars".
In the UK, "Wagon Train" branded toys (primarily a covered wagon and a Wells Fargo stagecoach) were sold under the "Budgie" brand.
