Green, blue and red Caterpillar Marionette made by Pelham Puppets. Produced from the 60's to the 80's.
A modification of the early SL 63 caterpillar design, Pelham added fur to the design and reclassified it as a SL model. It was produced in a variety of colours, usually with two interspersed stripes but some models had three colours.
Description
"Caterpillar" standard stringed Pelham puppet, with original box.
Pale sage green tone wooden shaped head with wide cheeks and moulded smiling wide closed mouth with red line. Nose slightly flattened with two black vertical marks. Large yellow felt circular eyes with black pupils. Two black rubber antennae on top of head with red wooden bead ball on ends. Body of 9 composition articulated C shaped sections each with two feet. Covered in alternate red and blue bands of sheepskin wool.
T-shaped folding wooden control stamped 'Pelham puppets made in England'. 3 strings attached to either side of head and body.
Box - yellow card with coloured illustrations of other Pelham puppets. Box labelled "Caterpillar" on box lid end.
