Dark red Ferrari P5 sports car with gull-wing lifting doors, Dinky Toys 220, produced between 1970-1974.
This model is of the 3 litre V12 engine 250 P5 Berlinetta Speciale, first showcased at the Geneva Motor Show in 1968. As a concept car jointly developed by Ferrari and Pininfarina which influenced future Ferrari models that adopted the clear glass panel over the back engine, it actually deserved the grand name.
Its design was also mimicked in Pininfarina's Alfa Romeo 33 Coupe Prototipo Speciale, created by the same designer, Leonardo Fioravanti, which debuted at the next year's Paris Motor Show. Unfortunately, the replacement of the P5's long bar headlight with covered normal headlight bulbs had the unfortunate result of reducing the front grooves and headlight's combined effect of appearing like a terrifying demonic face, in a surprising case of restraint in a sports car designer.
