Ford Zephyr (Mettoy Young Engineer)
An assembled green plastic Mettoy "Young Engineer" Ford Zephyr
Young Engineer
"Young Engineer" sets were designed as simple self-assembly kits that would teach children how the parts of a motor car worked ("Educational, Enertaining, Absorbing, Realistic, Instructive"). The "Zephyr" kit included a grey chassis with friction drive motor, green single-piece plastic bodywork shell, an internal transparent plastic shell for the windows, two dark red sets of seats, and then the wheels and some plated pieces such as the radiator grille.
This example is built and without its original box or paperwork ... although "Young Engineer" had its own logo, and seems to have been intended to be a range of products, we don't currently know of any other Young Engineer products other than the Zephyr.
