A painted cast lead figure of George Bernard Shaw, scaled to gauge 0, made by Heyde for Bassett-Lowke.
This was part of a set of "personality" passenger figures released by Bassett-Lowke in around 1925 as accessories for their gauge 0 model railways.
Promotional text
The piece was originally supplied in a small card box with a large sticker proclaiming:
- " The most discussed man and greatest playwright of the day. His plays are known the world over. "St. Joan" described as the finest play since Shakespeare. A persistant (sic) crusader against humbug. The wittiest living Irishman and a brilliant debater. A rebel, a reformer, a Puritan, a prophet, and a Socialist ! "
