A black Meccano No.1A Clockwork Motor, with its key and original blue box.
The No.1 Clockwork motor underwent a number of revisions over the years, originally being made for Meccano by Marklin, but later versions being made by Meccano themselves. The 1935 catalogue lists "1" and "1A" version, where "1" has a simple stop-start lever, and "1A" also has a forwards/backwards reversing lever, but later listings seem to show "No.1" clockwork motors complete with reverse gear.
