A tinplate-boxed Mechanics Made Easy set, Outfit 1A, made in XXXX.
Dual branding
This is a set that marks the transition from "Mechanics Made Easy" to Meccano. The tin is a "Mechanics made Easy" tin that has been updated with a black diagonal sticker "stripe" with the Meccano branding. The word "Meccano" on the sticker includes the elements of the proper Meccano logo - the heavy block serifs, and the tilted hole in the letter "O".
The tin lid is still visibly marked "E&H.", for "Elliott and Hornby"
Illustration
On the left, the lid shows a green Bing-style gauge 0 steam-powered model tender locomotive crossing a bridge executed in "MME"/Meccano, with the bridge's diagonal girder bracing represented by string threaded diagonally between holes.
On the right is an illustration of a complex model wheeled crane, executed in "MME" parts.
The illustrations still show the metal strips as being flat-ended.
