An example of the very earliest model of the white 1930s Hornby Series United Dairies Milk Tank Wagon, with grey ladders, end-bases, base, buffers and "Type 3" trunions, and a white lettered tank.
First version
This early version corresponds to the initial catalogue illustrations, and has end-taps that disappeared on later models, and, notably, its diagonal tank-holding bars are miniature versions of the originals, with tiny threads at each end, and secured with tiny nuts. On later models, this intricate detail was removed, and the diagonal bars were held in place smply by crushing and splaying the ends of the bars (which was obviously a much cheaper and simpler operation).
