Development

The E120 Special Electric Tank Locomotives were first sold in 1934, and were fitted with a 20 volt automatic reverse mechanism. The clockwork locomotive’s base was altered after the introduction of the electric version to accommodate electric version’s housing, although the trains were not identical in details.

The No. 1 Special Tank locomotives, like the No. 1 Special Locomotives which also came out in 1929, came in seven liveries with Great Western, Southern, LNER and LMS models.
