A marionette of Pinocchio, the fairy-tale character, made by Pelham Puppets.
A JC design marionette. It is important to note that this design is not based off of the Disney animated film of Pinocchio but instead the original children's book by Carlo Collodi. This piece demonstrates black strings (which were changed to coloured ones in 1955 in order to make it easier to untangle them) and the thinner, shaped composite hands which were typical of the late 1940s and early 1950s. These features allow us to give the item an estimated age of 60 to 67 years.
