The museum's ticketed area is now equipped with public wifi access.
As well as powering the museum's hardware, the wifi system gives visitors the option of using their own touchscreens or smartphones instead of the fixed tablets distributed around the museum, without incurring any network or data charges.
Login and password
If you're using your own device in the museum, its "networks" page should show the name of the museum's wifi hotspot and relays. The access password is freewifi.
QR codes
Visitors using their own devices also have the option of using a cameraphone to scan the QR code stickers attached to each cabinet and display area in the museum, so see what information we currently have for the exhibits in that area.
The scanner software that we currently recommend is Google Goggles, which is available as a free download for both iOS and Android devices, from both Apple and Google stores. Visitors who do not currently have a scanner app installed on their device can download it, again, free of charge, from the museum's wifi network.
