Sideboard with moulded backboard (Pit-a-Pat 5) |
location: |
Arch Two , Area 19 |
A dark brown wooden dollhouse Sideboard, item number 5 in the 1930s Pit-a-Pat dollhouse furniture range.
The sideboard has two central drawers, on above the other, flanked by two cupboard compartments with doors. The upper surface has a moulded backboard with cut 45-degree-diagonal tapered ends, and the four short legs are turned.
The two drawers and two cupboard doors have "pin-head" handles.
Identification
Apart from the correspondence with advertising images, the real giveaway that this is a Pit-a-Pat piece is the strip of moulding across the back of the sideboard, which is exactly the same moulding pattern used by Pit-a-Pat on some of their other pieces.
