1950s

A built Meccano-style model spaceship, built from the Supersonic Jet-Craft and Space Rocket Builder set, distributed by Moko

Spaceship, rear detail

The notable thing about this set (apart from its thematic similarity to the Dan Dare spaceship construction set) is that the pressed nose was really very nicely executed, and reminiscent of the front end of a McDonnell Douglas airliner ... but with a spike.

Configuration

The model's silver body has a two-part pressed steel nose and cockpit front section, a two-part mid-section, and a two part tapering open rear section.

There are long thin black half-cylinders running down the body length, ending in four blue half-engine cowlings.

Status

The model is likely to go on display in late October or early November.
