A post-war boxed clockwork Hornby Trains No101 Tank Goods Set, including a red LMS No101 Tank locomotive, 2270, circa 1947.
The set includes a track, timber wagon, a light brown LMS open goods wagon marked "12530", and, more notably, a grey "POOL" petrol tank wagon.
Origins
The original Hornby 0-4-0 "LMS 2270" loco was an "M Series" M3 locomotive, without piston chambers or drive rods (see 1934 catalogue illustration, top right). The postwar "No.101" loco seems to have adopted the M3 loco's superstructure, but put it onto a more sophisticated base.
