A Hornby Series LMS Timber Wagon No.1 from the middle-late 1920s.
Description
The wagon has olive-green base, buffers and couplings, and two curved flat side-supports for holding a payload of planks (included). The side of the base is marked "LMS" in black-outlined gold with a red drop-shadow, and there's a rectangular Hornby Series label on the top of the bed, alongside the middle of the load.
The timber wagon has simpler payload supports than the lumber wagon, because cut planks stack better and behave more politely while being transported than piles of logs.
Dating
Although the Timber Wagon appeared in the early 1920s, it originally had olive-green timber-supports, and these apparently didn't start being painted red until 1927 - they start appearing "red" in the catalogues starting from 1928, so this example would seem to date from 1927/28 onwards.
