United Glass Bottle ("UGB")
United Glass Bottle Manufacturers Ltd. was formed in 1913 when five UK glass manufacturers pooled their resources in order to invest in the latest American glass bottle manufacturing plant.
The companies were
- Alfred Alexander and Co
- Robert Candlish and Son
- Cannington, Shaw and Co
- Nuttall Co
- Ravenhead Glass
The company retained brandnames such as "Ravenhead", and tried to get around the slightly boring combined company name in industry advertising with the slogan "Use Good Bottles", which stressed the company's advantages over some smaller glassmaking businesses with respect to high-quality mass-production.
