1930s Layout, station side

A lithographed tinplate model of a rectangular brick railway water-tower, made for gauge 0 model railway layouts by Georges Carette for Bassett Lowke.

The tower has a printed brick-effect base with two front arches and one arch at each side, and a rectangular jutting yellow water-tank with red lines representing reinforcing struts or ridges. The tower has a side-ladder, and delivery tube, and carries a number of printed advertising placards as part of the design.

The model was also made in a larger Gauge 1 size - a gauge 1 example is in the large "Classic Locos"/"Bassett-Lowke" cabinet opposite the central layout in Arch Three. It's closer to the glass and easier to see than the Gauge 0 example on the main layout.
