Wide-backed chairs, tinplate dollhouse furniture (Evans and Cartwright)(i) |
location: |
Arch Two , Area 19 1840s |
A set of three classic brown tinplate dollhouse furniture Chairs with a wide "lapel" upper back-rest, made by Evans and Cartwright circa the 1840s.
The chairs have black seats and are painted to look like woodgrain. These and the accompanying set of three bamboo-effect chairs are probably the most immediately-recognisable pieces that Evans and Cartwright ever produced.
