Bear sawing wood (~Bavarian C19th)(i) |
location: |
Arch Two , Area 17 C19th |
A small toy carved wooden toy Bear sawing a log, probably Nineteenth Century, and probably Bavarian.
The toy consists of the bear holding a saw, the toy log, and two flat jointed slats of wood. If the ends of the slats are held one in each hand and moved together and apart, the bear leans forwards and backwards and appears to be sawing the log.
The bear is currently in a stack of exhibits waiting to go on display, and will probably appear in the museum some time in 2018
