The Hornby Visitor Centre is a museum-style space currently built into the side of the old Tri-ang Rovex building in Margate, which for many years was the operating centre of Hornby Hobbies.

The Centre was opened on Saturday 3rd July 2010.

Exhibits

The Visitor Centre holds exhibits and displays relating to the history of the brands currently owned by Hornby Hobbies, and some of the brands owned by HH's predecessor companies, Tri-ang Hornby and Meccano Ltd. As well as examples of products from many HH-related brands, the centre also has two working 00-gauge layouts, a working Scalextric setup that visitors can play with, and examples of some of the original prototypes and machine tools. A notable inclusion is a room dedicated to displaying early cased examples of Pocher 1:8-scale model cars.

Planned relocation, 2016

As of Summer 2016, the Visitor Centre was scheduled to move to a new site at Ramsgate Harbour that was easier to find. This would also have meant that the old Rovex site would finally be fully vacated, and could be redeveloped.

However, plans have now changed, Hornby Hobbies are now planning on moving back into their old building, and the Visitor Centre is still in place.
