Mettype and Supertype typewriters |
The various toy typewriters made by TippCo in Germany, by Mettoy in the UK, and by Marx in the US, with a distinctive central print head, were all supposedly designed by Samuel Irving Berger, who obtained a slew of patents in 1950-51, which were supplemented with additional modifications (and patents) by his son Edwin Irving Berger.
Mettoy's range were distinguished by different colours: The Mettype Junior and Mettoy Prefect seemed to be red, the Supertype, green, the Mettoy Elegant, pink.
