Card No. 32 : The DOUGLAS DC-2 "TRANSPORT" (U.S.A.)
This type has become prominent by reason of its amazing performance in the England-Australia Air Race. Flown by two Dutch pilots, it gained second place, reaching Melbourne in 3½ days. It was a standard machine carrying four passengers and mail. Although a fast monoplane with a top speed of about 213 mph., the Douglas "Transport" is a comfortable machine and is going into service on the principal American air routes. The cabin can accommodate between twelve and eighteen passengers.
