SEL 1540 steam engine |
location: |
A small SEL model 1540 steam engine, with red base and plaque, and original box.
SEL stood for Signalling Equipment Limited of Potters Bar, Middlesex (a brandname of J&L Randall) , and the various small steam engines (for powering models) were also sold under the Merit name, or sold with a combination of "SEL" and "Merit" branding.
Googling "1540 steam" returns a surprising number of pages about this little engine.
