Card No. 20: The SHORT "SCION" (Great Britain)
The "Scion" is a very economical light transport monoplane built to carry five passengers and a pilot and yet using only two small-powered engines. With a cruising speed of about 102 m.p.h., it was designed for short-distance air lines or screen in front and the ferry work in conjunction with the principal air lines. Both engines are built into the wing and there is an unobstructed view for the passengers. One of these machines operated an experimental service between Southend and Rochester during 1934 and successfully carried thousands of passengers between the two towns.
