Card No. 22 : The Spartan Cruiser (Great Britain)
Seen here flying off the Isle of Wight; one of a fleet of three-engined, six-eight-seater monoplanes which carry passengers daily between London and the Isle of Wight.
The three engines provide a margin of safety in the event of a single or double engine failure and the three together ensure a comfortable cruising speed of 115 m.p.h.
Spartan "Cruisers" are used in various parts of the world, for short-distance air lines and special charter work.
During 1933 one of them flew a party to Australia and back with deviations on the route making up a total mileage of 32,000.
