Steamer Trunk style tin with latching lid |
location: |
A lithographed tinplate box designed to look like a miniature toy steamer trunk, manufacturer unknown, with lithographed representations of straps and fastenings, and a working lid latch.
The trunk is lithographed with an monogram SB (or perhaps BS), and also has lithographed white travel sticker reading "L&NWRy. London."
Dating
Since the London and North Western Railway (LNWR) only operated between 1846 and 1922 (when it merged with the London Midland and Scottish railway, (LMS)), the tin is unlikely to be any later than the very early 1920s.
