Toys and models that are German-made, carry German marques, or have German subject matter (e.g. a British toy of a German car).

Germany: "The cradle of the toy industry"

The late 19th Century saw the arrival of beautifully sculpted hand-painted toys, including sheet-metal cooking stoves, ships, cars, and of course a wonderful range of trains in different sizes. Later, model locomotives were powered by steam, clockwork and electricity, and carriages with opening roofs were fitted out with dining and sleeping facilities, even down to the passengers sitting to dine while others slept in little cloth blankets. Beautiful stations, bridges, and a charming range of accessories helped to complete these ranges.

A great quantity of these treasures are to be found in the museum.

Brighton Toy and Model Museum is always happy to see German visitors.
